Blessed… (but)

At precisely 4:10AM I get woken up by a startled wife asking if someone was breaking in. Panicked, we jump up and find Jude coming out of the room turning lights on and pushing chairs out of his way, in a MOOD. As soon as he sees me he immediately demands “Van Drive!”, which is his way of ordering an Uber (me) to drive him around…in circles…for hours.

As we are cruising the countryside he starts screaming so I know it’s not gonna be a joyous little trip, however I’m determined to keep him out for at least a couple hours to let the ladies sleep at home. About 5:30 we start to make our way back home and he has calmed significantly since I gave him my cell phone to watch YouTube clips. (Phones are bad, blah blah blah, dad’s gotta do, what dad’s gotta do) Anywho, about 15 minutes from home, the internet loses connection and he FLIPS, launches the phone at Dad’s jaw, who is driving mind you, and starts wailing again. It would be a lie to say I wasn’t slightly upset at this point, but more than that, I was broken hearted for my son.

Get home and eventually he calms back down and we all start our normal day, 4 hours after waking up. At this point I’ve had McDonalds coffee but no food so I’m starving but with that stomach ache from only drinking coffee with no food; I’m also super behind with work and with working from home during quarantine I’m probably as stressed as I’ve ever been in my entire life.

Phone rings with another work call and as we’re chatting, my vendor (who is also a friend at this point) mentions a book he picked up talking about Renewing your Mindset. I truthfully don’t remember the actual title of the book but it basically encourages you to strive for the positivity in life and you’ll be a happier more joyous person. Something clicked in my optimistic brain and I knew that this wasn’t a mere coincidence, but a call to action!

SO, that is what I shall do…

Early this morning, my son was so eager to spend time with his Dad he woke up earlier than normal. First thing he did was ask me to go on a road trip! Trip had it’s ups and downs, but it was awesome to get to spend quality time with him, while the love of my life and my precious daughter had some extra time to sleep. (even though they didn’t)
